Hamburg's Festive Days: Commemorating Traditional Pots and Illuminating Nights

The Hamburg Cruise Days are set to return from September 12 to 14, 2023, promising an exciting blend of maritime culture, festival atmosphere, and art. Organised by Hamburg Tourismus GmbH, this leading and second-largest trade fair of its kind in the world will see eight cruise ships grace the Hamburg harbor.

The event on land between Elbphilharmonie and landing stages will offer culinary delights, culture, and entertainment. Highlights of the festival on the harbor are not limited to the ships but also include various events on land.

Eight cruise ships will be on display during the event. These include the "AIDAperla", "AIDAsol", "Mein Schiff 4", "MSC Preziosa", "Vasco da Gama", "Europa", and "Norwegian Dawn". The "MS Sans Souci", a ship for river cruises, will also be part of the event.

The grand parade of five cruise ships will take place on Saturday evening. The parade starts at around 9:00 PM and is accompanied by music. The parade ends with a spectacular fireworks display over the Elbe, providing a fitting finale to the Hamburg Cruise Parade.

The "Vasco da Gama" show will take place on Friday during the cruise festival. Michael Batz's light installations, a staple of the Hamburg Cruise Days since 2008, create a magical blue backdrop around the harbor every evening until September 21.

On the last day of the festival, the "MSC Preziosa" will depart from Hamburg-Steinwerder and meet the "Norwegian Dawn" in front of the Elbphilharmonie.

According to Hamburg Tourism Director Michael Otremba, the Hamburg Cruise Days shine far beyond the city. The festival combines maritime culture, festival atmosphere, and art into an event that attracts visitors from around the world.

The Hamburg Cruise Days is not just about the ships. On land, visitors can enjoy a variety of cultural and entertainment offerings. From food stalls offering local delicacies to live music and art installations, there's something for everyone.

So, mark your calendars for September 12 to 14, 2023, and get ready to experience the magic of the Hamburg Cruise Days!
