Harsh electronic waste disposal practices and collection initiatives during autumn travels

In the city of Gütersloh, residents have the opportunity to dispose of their hazardous waste and electrical waste at several events in September and October 2025. The events, organised by the municipal waste management service, will take place at various locations across the city.

The weekly hazardous waste collection on Thursdays at the Gütersloh disposal point, Carl-Zeiss-Straße 58, from 15 to 18 o'clock, remains open. For those seeking a one-off disposal opportunity, the city has scheduled multiple events throughout September and October.

On Friday, 12th September, the event will take place at Avenwedde Bahnhof, Dompfaffenstr., Avenwedde Mitte, Avenwedder Str., Waldsiedlung, Apfelweg / Walnussweg, and Settlement Determeyer, Kleeweg / Buchweizenweg. The following Friday, 19th September, the event will be held at Isselhorst, Kirchplatz, Isselhorst, Auf dem Felde (catholic church), Blankenhagen, Leipziger Str. / Hofbrede, and Nordhorn, Magnolienweg / Strotheide.

The event on Saturday, 13th September, will take place at Hans-Böckler-Str., Sackgasse Hammer-Markt, Pavenstädt, Melanchthonstr., Fröbelstr. (Parking lot opposite house number 8a), Marketplace, Prekerstr. / Töllerstr., and more. The final event on Saturday, 20th September, will take place at Kaufland, Am Anger, Elisabethstr. / Luisenstr., Doheermannshöhe / Marthastr., and Eimerheide / Katharinenstr. The event on Saturday, 11th October, will take place at Friedrichsdorf, Sportplatz Paderborner Str., and Zur großen Heide 22 / Parking lot Gaststätte.

Items accepted for free in these events include defective and functional coffee machines, washing machines, electric cookers, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, shavers, radios, televisions, stereo systems, microwaves, hair dryers, computers, monitors, and similar items. Additionally, the events will also include the acceptance of electrical and electronic waste.

However, certain items such as car batteries, medicines, asbestos, fire extinguishers, and wall paints (residential paints) are not accepted. Hazardous waste should be delivered in sealed original packaging if possible.

For more information, residents can contact the city of Gütersloh's waste advisory service by phone at 05241 / 82-2122 or visit the environmental protection department's website. The events will take place on 22 stops across three Fridays and three Saturdays, starting in September 2025.
