Heidelberg Expands Offering with Schubert Group Partnership

In a significant move, Heidelberg Druckmaschinen AG has signed a contract with the Schubert group at their Wiesloch-Walldorf site, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership. This alliance is aimed at expanding Heidelberg's offerings to areas that align with the company's strategic goals, ultimately strengthening its market position through synergies and recurring revenues.

The focus of this expansion is on emerging international mechanical engineering companies in growth industries, particularly those in the packaging sector. Heidelberg aims to capitalise on the growing demand for sustainable, fibre-based packaging solutions, such as manufacturers of folding cartons, liquid packaging, or lottery tickets. These companies may not have a branch or service organization in every region or market, making Heidelberg's global service network and specific know-how a valuable asset.

Schubert group stands to benefit significantly from this partnership, with Heidelberg's extensive global service network providing a boost to their operations. Heidelberg's strategy as a system integrator will allow them to leverage synergies in the growth segment, particularly in Brazil where they are taking over the operational service for Schubert group's customer installations.

Heidelberg's services will encompass functional tests, independent analysis and troubleshooting, technical consulting and training, inspection, maintenance, repair work, assembly, disassembly, and relocation of complete plants. With their global logistics centers, Heidelberg has the capacity to deliver spare parts within 24 hours almost anywhere in the world.

Dr. David Schmedding, a member of the Board of Technology & Sales at Heidelberg, and Uwe Galm, the Head of Customer Service and Prokurist at Gerhard Schubert GmbH, will oversee the implementation of this strategy. Jürgen Otto, the CEO of Heidelberg, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating that it will enable Heidelberg to expand its presence in the packaging value chain, a key component of their growth strategy.

Gerhard Schubert GmbH, a medium-sized family business, also plans to expand its presence in growth markets beyond Brazil, making this partnership a mutually beneficial agreement for both parties. As Heidelberg takes on the production accompaniment and performance optimization of Schubert group's machines and plants in Brazil, it marks a first step in Heidelberg's expansion into the packaging sector and a promising future for both companies.
