Hertha's winless streak continues as they leave Darmstadt
In a closely contested match in the 2. Bundesliga, Hertha Berlin and SV Darmstadt 98 played out a goalless draw on Saturday. The final score of 0-0 reflected the tight nature of the game, with both teams creating chances but ultimately failing to find the back of the net.
The first half of the match was marked by intense action and numerous goal-scoring opportunities. However, the second half saw a decrease in the number of chances created, with the match becoming more defensive in nature.
One of the key moments in the game came in the 84th minute, when Darmstadt's Killian Corredor headed the ball towards goal. The effort was brilliantly saved by Hertha's goalkeeper, Tjark Ernst, preventing his team from conceding a goal. This save proved crucial in the final outcome of the match.
Earlier in the game, Darmstadt's Aleksandar Vukotic made a spectacular save to deny Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson a goal for Hertha in the 40th minute. Meanwhile, Isac Lidberg's goal for Darmstadt in the 26th minute was disallowed due to offside, denying the visitors a valuable lead.
Despite the lack of goals, the match was still an entertaining spectacle for the fans in attendance. The coach of SV Darmstadt 98, Florian Kohfeldt, who took over the team in September 2024, will be pleased with his team's performance and their ability to hold their own against a strong Hertha Berlin side.
With the draw, both teams remain in the upper half of the 2. Bundesliga table, with Darmstadt sitting in 5th place and Hertha in 7th. The next round of fixtures will see Darmstadt face off against Sandhausen, while Hertha will travel to face Arminia Bielefeld.
