High-altitude burglary by knife-wielding thieves via balcony on the seventh level.

In the early hours of Tuesday, an unknown group of burglars carried out a home invasion in a seventh-floor attic apartment near Herder Park in Simmering. The victim, a 37-year-old man, was left with stab and cut wounds to his chest, arm, and hand areas, and had to be taken to the hospital by emergency services due to heavy bleeding.

The Vienna State Criminal Office has taken over the investigation of this violent incident. According to the latest updates, the perpetrators are suspected to be connected to the local drug scene, with some residents of the new building believed to be linked to the same criminal network.

The burglars demanded that the resident hand over all valuable items, stealing 4,500 euros, three expensive watches (including a Rolex), and the resident's car keys. The exact reasons behind the targeting of the victim remain unclear, but it is possible that this was a case of mistaken identity or a "lucky break" attempt.

The identity and whereabouts of the attackers are still at large and have not been found through immediate searches. The burglars either entered the apartment via the roof, another apartment, or a balcony, and fled in an unknown direction through the apartment door after their heist.

Neighbours were alerted by the victim's calls for help, and the investigation into the home invasion is ongoing, with the Vienna State Criminal Office working diligently to identify and apprehend the attackers. The ongoing investigation is also looking into the drug connections of the residents in the new building.

The victim's condition is currently stable, and the community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. The Vienna State Criminal Office is asking for anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and help bring the perpetrators to justice.
