Title: Kazakhstan's Second-Place Finish at EPT Monte Carlo High Roller Tournament - A Record-Breaking Run
In an exciting turn of events at the ritzy Monte Carlo Sporting complex, a Kazakh poker pro displayed their skills and determination, finishing second in the glitzy High Roller tourney – the highest-earning placement ever for a Kazakh player in this tournament.
Situated in the glamorous principality of Monaco, the High Roller tournament took place on May 2-4 during the PokerStars EPT festival. The buy-in was a hefty €25,000, with one re-entry allowed. Since there was no guarantee for the prize pool, it was determined by the total number of entries.
As expected, the competition drew the crème de la crème of the poker world, including star players such as Brian Kenney, Rainer Kempe, Nick Petrangelo, Sam Greenwood, Ryan Riess, Steve O'Dwyer, Justin Bonomo, John Juanda, Eric Siddel, Stephen Chidwick, and Dominik Nitsche. Additionally, Russian-speaking professionals like Mikhail Voskoboynikov, Ramin Hajiev, Alexander Uskov, Nikita Bodyakovskiy, Vladimir Troyanovskiy, and Aleksei Horoshenin were also present.
By the 10th level on the first day, our courageous Kazakh player impressively boosted their stack from 50,000 to 79,000 and finished 32nd with 43 remaining players. In total, there were 112 entries throughout the day.
The second day brought even greater success as a few key hands propelled our player forward. One lucky hand nearly doubled their stack when they caught two pair on the flop against an opponent's pocket aces. By the 14th level, with 24 players left, our player had accumulated 400K in chips, placing them among the leaders of the tournament.
Throughout the day, our Kazakh warrior faced several challenges, but by the first major break, they had worked their way up to 5th place with 16 players remaining. After a brief slump, they finished the day with 390K in chips, crucially securing a place at the final table.
Heads-up for the €25K High Roller EPT Monte Carlo:
- Albert Daher (Lebanon) – 3,415,000 (85BB)
- "3DTemujiN" (Kazakhstan) – 1,635,000 (41BB)

- €481,000 ($577,200)
- €312,500 ($375,000)
This remarkable performance pushed our Kazakh hero to the top spot for Kazakhstani players in terms of tournament earnings, breaking a record previously held by Aidyn Auezkanov, who finished 3rd in the Super High Roller Grand Final of Monte Carlo in 2016 for €50,000.
So, congratulations to our Kazakh player for their impressive run – we can't wait to see how they continue to dominate the poker world in the years to come!
