Seligenstadt Fiber Optic Expansion: A Step Towards Future-Proof Infrastructure
Seligenstadt, a historic city in the district of Offenbach, is set to receive a modern fiber optic network expansion, thanks to Westconnect GmbH. The project, which started on November 25th, aims to provide high-performance internet to around 2,135 households and businesses.
The expansion offers a sustainable and future-proof infrastructure, consuming up to 15 times less electricity than conventional copper networks. With transmission rates of up to 1,000 megabits per second, residents and businesses can expect fast and reliable internet connections.

Westconnect will coordinate with the monument protection authorities of the district of Offenbach and the state of Hesse before starting construction in the old town of Seligenstadt. A total of around 34 kilometers of route will be laid for the expansion. Depending on weather conditions, Westconnect plans to complete the work by mid-2026.
The property owner declaration (GEE) is necessary for the coordination of construction work. Project leader Volker Schneider acknowledges the challenge of fiber optic expansion in Seligenstadt's historic city center but considers it an important step for the city's positive economic development.
