High-speed Traveling vs Weekend Balance: Maintaining Equilibrium
In an effort to enhance safety on the roads, the Euskirchen police have been conducting regular speed checks across several locations in the district. Last weekend, as part of the left Rhine quality circle, the force carried out these checks on the B 266 at Schleiden-Vogelsang, the L 165 at Bad Münstereifel-Mahlberg, the L 113 at Bad Münstereifel-Bliesthal, the L 115 in Mechernich, and in the areas of Kall and Blankenheim.
The purpose of these controls was clear: to increase safety on the roads. Those who adhere to speed limits play a significant role in maintaining road safety, and compliance with speed limits is crucial in preventing accidents and saving lives.
Unfortunately, excessive speeding by road users continues to be a concern in the district. During the recent checks, a total of 144 road users were found to be driving too fast. Five drivers were issued driving bans due to significant excess speeds, with one motorcycle rider measured at 136 km/h in a 70 km/h zone and another car driver clocked at 126 km/h where the speed limit was 70 km/h.
It's important to note that speed checks are not primarily about issuing fines, but about ensuring safety on the roads. The Euskirchen police are committed to this mission and will continue to regularly carry out speed checks in the future.
By maintaining a vigilant approach to speed control, the Euskirchen police hope to create a safer environment for all road users, fostering a culture of responsible driving and ultimately reducing the number of road accidents in the district.
