In a shocking turn of events, a significant accident occurred on the A4 motorway towards Dresden, resulting in extensive damage and numerous injuries.
The incident took place when a minibus, driven by a 22-year-old Polish driver, collided with the left rear of a German articulated lorry. Traffic was immediately diverted at the Gotha junction due to the accident.
The minibus veered off the road, colliding with the central reservation barrier, and came to a halt on the left lane. As a result, the Dresden-bound carriageway was completely closed for 2.5 hours.
The accident has left a total preliminary damage estimate of 46,000 euros. Tragically, the accident resulted in injuries for several passengers. The driver was lightly injured, while two other 22-year-old Polish passengers were injured, one seriously and one lightly.
A 27-year-old Polish passenger was trapped under the articulated lorry and had to be rescued by the fire service. The rescued passenger was flown to a nearby hospital in a life-threatening condition.
