The Macedonian Tower, a Roman-era structure located in the northwestern province of Edirne, Turkey, is currently undergoing restoration. The Culture and Tourism Ministry launched the restoration works in 2021, aiming to transform the tower into a new attraction for the city.

The Macedonian Tower, the only surviving example of the fortification towers commissioned by Roman Emperor Hadrian, has a rich history. It was named "clock tower" in 1867 after Edirne Governor Hacı Izzet Pasha added wooden floors and installed clocks. However, the tower was severely damaged during the 1953 earthquake and was later demolished with dynamite in the 1950s due to disruptions in the city's aesthetics.

Modern cement materials have been removed from the site's historical structures, and they have been replaced with authentic lime-based mortar during the restoration. The restoration project includes a comprehensive structural analysis, reinforcement work both inside and outside the tower, and the pedestrianization of the surrounding area.

Archaeological excavations were carried out by the Edirne Museum in 2002 and 2003, shedding light on the tower's historical significance. The restoration project also includes the restoration of the surrounding archaeological site.

Once completed, the Macedonian Tower will offer visitors a unique experience. An observation deck is being established on the top floor, offering panoramic views of the Edirne Palace and Hıdırlık Bastion. Visitors will also have the opportunity to take a transparent elevator ride to the tower's terrace.

A video mapping show, similar to the one at Galata Tower, will be held on special occasions once the restoration is completed. Panels depicting the civilizations that founded Edirne will be displayed along the inner walls of the Macedonian Tower's terrace, providing insights into the city's history.

The street where the tower stands will be pedestrianized and revitalized, turning it into a remarkable tourism destination. Kemal Soytürk, Edirne's provincial director of culture and tourism, stated that the aim is to make the Macedonian Tower a new attraction for the city. The Macedonian Tower restoration project is set to make a significant contribution to Edirne's cultural and touristic landscape.
