Urgent Repairs Close PATH Hoboken Station Through Labor Day

Commuters planning to travel this holiday weekend are advised of a significant disruption to their travel plans as the PATH Hoboken station will be closed for urgent repairs from midnight on Thursday until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, lasting through Labor Day.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is responsible for the emergency repairs at the PATH Hoboken station, which are expected to last until the end of the holiday weekend. The repairs are necessary due to more than century-old station repairs that have become critical.

During the closure, the Port Authority is providing transit alternatives to ensure minimal disruption to commuters. Free shuttle buses will be available, connecting riders to Jersey City's Newport and Exchange Place stations. NJ Transit rail service is also cross-honoring PATH riders between the Hoboken, Secaucus, New York Penn, and Newark Penn stations.

NJ Transit riders only need to show their PATH fare cards to take advantage of the transit alternatives. For those who prefer water travel, ferries will operate between the PATH/NJ Transit and Midtown/West 39th Street terminals on Saturday through Monday. Ferries will run every 15 or 20 minutes for much of Friday.

Special $3 tickets for New York Waterway ferries will be available at the PATH/NJ Transit station and 14th Street terminals in Hoboken. The ferries will offer service to Manhattan at Brookfield Place/Battery Park City and Midtown/West 39th Street.

The Port Authority has scheduled the PATH Hoboken station repairs, and it's important to note that the closure will affect commuters this holiday weekend. The PATH Hoboken station shutdown is not a decision taken lightly, but the urgent nature of the repairs necessitates this action.

NJ Transit is also cross-honoring customers on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail between Hoboken, Newport, and Exchange Place, providing another transit alternative for those affected by the closure.

While the closure of the PATH Hoboken station may cause inconvenience, the Port Authority encourages commuters to plan their travel accordingly and make use of the transit alternatives provided. The Port Authority appreciates the patience and understanding of commuters during this time and is committed to completing the repairs as quickly and safely as possible.
