Homes face imminent danger as flames force residents into confinement

In a day marked by high temperatures and dry conditions, several fires erupted across Costa Blanca North, Spain. The latest news reports confirm four separate fires in the region.

The day's first fire was reported in Javea, along the CV-740 road towards Benitachell, near the river. The flames threatened nearby properties, prompting local authorities to confine residents of nearby chalets. Thankfully, just 20 minutes later, the town hall confirmed that the fire was under control, and the road had been reopened. The main areas affected by the fire were vegetation and riverbank scrub.

Meanwhile, in Denia, fire crews mobilised to tackle a smaller fire on the northern side of Montgó, in the Coll del Pous. The fire was quickly contained and classified as a minor outbreak.

Another fire was declared in Oliva, on the Creu mountain, near the border with Marina Alta. To support ground teams, several firefighting aircraft were deployed. By the afternoon, the fire was under control though not fully extinguished.

Additionally, a fire was reported in the Camí Vell de Pedreguer, within the Les Valls del Montgó area of Javea. The flames reached dangerously close to one property, causing concern. However, by the end of the day, the fire in the Camí Vell de Pedreguer was also under control, though not fully extinguished.

The authorities involved in firefighting on Costa Blanca on September 4 included local fire brigades, Guardia Civil, local police, civil protection, SUC preventive resources, and CECOPIN. They were supported by heavy urban pumps and water tankers in coordinated emergency operations.

As the region continues to battle these fires, we encourage everyone to stay safe and follow the instructions of local authorities. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
