In the quiet town of Epping, a disturbing incident occurred outside the Bell Hotel on Friday evening. The police were called to the scene after reports of an assault outside the property.

According to Essex Police, a man from Harlow was arrested in connection with the assault. The man is currently in custody on suspicion of assault. Officers also reported that a number of people were throwing projectiles including flares and firecrackers during the incident.

The police force added that they received reports of the assault outside the Bell Hotel. Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow stated that reports of residents at the hotel throwing flares are categorically untrue.

The assault is considered criminal behaviour and not part of a peaceful protest. Surrounding and intimidating people living in the hotel is not considered peaceful behaviour either. Anyone identified committing crime during the protests will be arrested.

Multiple demonstrations have been held outside the Bell Hotel since July 13. The police force will facilitate peaceful protests at any future event, but will not tolerate crime and disorder outside the Bell Hotel or anywhere.

On Friday evening, a dispersal order was put in place in the area of Epping to control anti-social behaviour. Officers were given powers to disperse anyone suspected of anti-social behaviour or planning to commit it. One man was issued with a Section 42 Notice under the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001.

The police are investigating incidents of crime from Friday night. As of now, there is no information available about the name of the man arrested after the attack on a resident of the Bell Hotel or the municipality he comes from.

The police force reiterated that they will ensure a peaceful environment for everyone in Epping, and that they will not tolerate any form of criminal behaviour. They urge anyone with information about the incidents to come forward and help them maintain peace and order in the town.
