On the evening of August 21st, a residential fire broke out at 10:40 PM on Willi-Graf-Straße in Euskirchen-Kuchenheim. The incident took place in a multi-family building, and thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The fire started in the living room of a specific residence, and it was triggered by a heater fan. The 60-year-old resident of the apartment was alerted to the fire by the smoke alarm. At the time, the resident was in the kitchen.

The resident, upon noticing the smoke, promptly called the fire department. Neighbours, who were also alerted by the smoke alarm, managed to extinguish the fire with a bucket of water before the fire department arrived.

Following the incident, the apartment has been seized by authorities for further investigation. The apartment is currently deemed temporarily uninhabitable.

The fire investigators of the Euskirchen police have initiated an investigation into the arson. In addition, an investigation into negligent arson has been launched by the Euskirchen police, as they work to determine the exact cause of the fire.
