House blaze erupts in Vahrenwald, affecting FW Hannover area
A fire broke out in an apartment in Hannover-Vahrenwald at noon today, causing a significant disruption in the area. The incident occurred in a multi-family house located on Vahrenwalder Straße.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the fire had spread to other rooms in the ground-floor apartment. The initial emergency response involved one fire engine and the rescue service. Due to the increased alarm level, another fire engine and command staff were sent to the scene.
The operation, which lasted approximately one and a half hours, was carried out by two teams in heavy breathing protection. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished without any further casualties being found. However, one resident was found in the heavily smoked stairway with smoke inhalation and burn injuries and was transported to a Hannover hospital.
Five people suffered minor to moderate injuries as a result of the fire. Four police officers who inhaled smoke were taken to a city hospital for a check-up.
The source of the information is the Fire Department Hannover, transmitted via news aktuell. The busy Vahrenwalder Straße was fully closed off towards the city center due to the fire department's operation.
Investigations into the cause of the fire have been initiated by the criminal police. Preliminary findings suggest that the fire was likely caused by a technical defect, and no persons have been identified or investigated by the police as responsible for causing the fire.
