In the district of Ludwigsburg, a long-standing issue has been brewing on Erdmannhäuser Straße, where the Kiefer Building Technology GmbH has its premises. Martha Niehaves, a local resident, often finds herself cautiously navigating the street, which sees thousands of vehicles pass daily.

The Kiefer company, which has grown from 23 to around 60 employees since 2006, now has 22 vehicles parked on Erdmannhäuser Straße. These vehicles, particularly delivery trucks, are causing a nuisance for residents, as they have been standing on the parking strip for days.

Residents of Erdmannhäuser Straße 17, including Martha's neighbour Rolf Benneweg, have expressed their frustration. They wish for one or two parking spots to be removed, particularly those occupied by Kiefer company vehicles. Rolf even suggests removing two parking spaces closest to the exit.

The residents also request a speed limit of 30 km/h on certain sections of Erdmannhäuser Straße due to its proximity to a pedestrian crossing and a school route. This request aligns with the draft of the noise action plan in Marbach, which includes a speed limit of 30 km/h on a 600-meter section of the street.

However, the city of Marbach does not want to be liable for a traffic mirror to improve visibility on Erdmannhäuser Straße. The mirror could provide more overview, but residents would have to pay for it and be liable for it.

The Kiefer company, which wants to stay at its current location as it gets noticed by around 30,000 vehicles daily, is considering purchasing resident parking permits from the city to secure nearby parking spots. This potential solution has not been implemented yet, and the city administration is currently holding back on actively seeking solutions to the parking problem on Erdmannhäuser Straße.

The residents view the city administration as responsible for addressing the issues caused by the Kiefer company's parking. They are not alone in their complaints, as Martha's view is blocked by the parked vehicles, causing constant complaints from neighbours.

Recently, the Greens in Marbach have proposed paid parking in the city center, which could potentially benefit Martha Niehaves and Rolf Benneweg if resident parking permits are included. Only time will tell if this proposal leads to a resolution for the residents of Erdmannhäuser Straße.
