Houthi Leadership Suffers Casualties: Distinguished Politicians Eliminated in Israeli Strikes over Yemen on a Recent Thursday
In a tragic turn of events, the Prime Minister of Yemen, Ahmad Ghaleb al-Rahwi, and several ministers have lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes in Sanaa. According to the Houthi rebels, this occurred on Thursday, with the announcement being made by the rebels' Al-Massirah channel on August 30.
The Israeli army has declared Gaza City a "dangerous combat zone", and the Red Cross considers the evacuation of Gaza City as "unfeasible" due to the massive population displacement it would involve. This decision comes after a series of missile and drone attacks by the Yemeni rebels towards Israeli territory, most of which have been intercepted.
The U.S. State Department made a decision on Friday evening to deny visas to Palestinian officials ahead of the UN General Assembly, citing the use of international justice for illegitimate purposes by the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization. This decision reportedly affects approximately 80 Palestinians, including Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority.
The United States has also been called upon by the European Union to "reconsider" their decision. The EU expressed concern over the potential impact on the peace process and the stability of the region.
In the wake of these events, Mehdi al-Mashat, head of the Supreme Political Council, has declared that the Yemeni rebels will take revenge for the deaths. Mehdi al-Mashat made his declaration in a video message on Telegram. The Yemeni rebels are acting in solidarity with the Palestinians of Gaza, with thousands of protesters gathering in Venice to denounce Israel's actions in Gaza.
Despite the Israeli army initially affirming that the evacuation of Gaza City was "inevitable", they later changed their stance. The Israeli army's decision not to evacuate Gaza City may be a response to the international outcry and the potential humanitarian crisis that such an evacuation would cause.
The Israeli airstrikes on August 31 in Sanaa also resulted in the death of the Prime Minister of the Iran-backed Houthi militia, Ahmed al-Rahaui, along with several Houthi ministers. However, other senior Houthi officials reportedly survived by fleeing the city to rural areas to avoid further attacks.
As the situation in Yemen and Gaza continues to unfold, the international community is closely monitoring developments and calling for de-escalation and respect for international law. The loss of life and the potential for further conflict underscore the urgent need for diplomatic solutions to these complex and deeply entrenched conflicts.
