Huawei-supported Shangjie H5 garners more than 50,000 advance orders in less than 18 hours during its pre-sale period.
New Automotive Brand Shangjie Launches Debut Model: The Shangjie H5
Shangjie, one of five automotive brands under Huawei's HIMA umbrella, is set to officially launch its debut model, the Shangjie H5, on September 23. This exciting new SUV (sport utility vehicle) is the result of a joint venture between Huawei and SAIC Motor.
The Shangjie H5 has already created a stir in the automotive industry, with pre-orders for the vehicle commencing on August 25. Within the first hour of its pre-sale launch, the Shangjie H5 received over 25,000 pre-orders, and within the first 18 hours, this number skyrocketed to over 50,000.
SAIC has taken over part of the production lines at SAIC-GM's Jinqiao plant in Shanghai for Shangjie production. The brand has also announced plans to build a dedicated factory for Shangjie in Shanghai's Lingang area.
The Shangjie H5 is priced affordably, with a starting price range of RMB 169,800 to RMB 209,800 ($23,730 - $29,990). This makes it the most affordable model under Huawei's HIMA business. The vehicle will also feature Huawei's ADS 4 advanced driving assistance system, making it the most affordable vehicle equipped with this system.
Shangjie has set a monthly sales target of 20,000 units for the H5 model. The brand has also announced tiered additional discounts for H5 pre-orders: RMB 1,000 off when pre-orders exceed 50,000 units, RMB 2,000 for pre-orders exceeding 100,000 units, and RMB 3,000 for pre-orders exceeding 150,000 units. Pre-orders for the Shangjie H5 are fully refundable at any time during the pre-sale phase.
The Shangjie H5 is not the only new model from the brand. Shangjie plans to launch two new models next year: a sedan and an SUV. The SUV model from Shangjie is scheduled for launch in the first half of next year.

In addition to Shangjie, HIMA's other automotive brands include Seres Group's Aito, Chery's Luxeed, Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC)'s Maextro, and BAIC's Stelato.
