Hyundai Motor Group has taken a significant step towards revolutionizing urban transport with the establishment of the Next Urban Mobility Alliance (NUMA). The alliance, unveiled at the company's Pleos 25 conference, aims to focus on reshaping mobility through AI, software-defined vehicles (SDVs), and autonomous driving technologies.
The alliance, which comprises 31 member organizations, includes the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, private entities like Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation, and academic institutions such as Seoul National University. This move is part of Hyundai Motor Group's commitment to realizing inclusive mobility through technology and driving a global mobility transformation.
The alliance is also focused on transforming local transportation systems with AI, implementing autonomous mobility-as-a-service, and broadening AI mobility to support smart city initiatives. NUMA's platform will facilitate technology demonstrations, policy harmonisation, and interdisciplinary cooperation to further these goals.
In addition to its work with NUMA, Hyundai Motor Group has enhanced its partnership with South Korean battery manufacturers LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI Company, and SK On Company. The focus is on the development of new safety standards for EVs.
