Hyundai reveals complete specifications of the i30 N model
Hyundai i30 N Gets a Powerful Makeover
Hyundai's i30 N hot hatch has received an impressive upgrade, with several notable improvements that promise to enhance its performance and safety features.
The heart of the 2020 i30 N lies in its retuned engine, which now delivers a torque of 392Nm, an increase of 39Nm, and power of 206kW, a boost of 4kW. This results in a reduction of 0.2 seconds in the i30 N's zero to 100km/h acceleration, making it over in 5.9 seconds.
One of the most significant changes is the introduction of stronger and lighter forged 19-inch rims. These new wheels, which will be a production feature for the updated i30 N, save 14kg of unsprung mass from the i30 N chassis, improving handling and road-holding.
The i30 N's steering and suspension settings have also been retuned electronically, ensuring a smoother and more responsive drive. The vehicle's new look, although still heavily disguised, has been spotted undergoing testing on Australian roads. The prototype i30N is the Fastback variety, heralding the arrival of production versions in early 2021.
Safety has not been overlooked in this update. The i30 N now features forward collision avoidance, lane-following assistance, blind-spot collision warning, and rear cross-traffic warning and avoidance assistance.
In addition, Hyundai will introduce an automatic transmission for the i30 N in the European region. The transmission will be a version of Hyundai's dual-clutch automatic that can be found in other models, albeit with a maximum of seven speeds. The fastback shares the same upgrades except for the tail end aesthetic changes.
In Australia, the Performance Pack, which includes more powerful brakes and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, will be offered as standard. The i30 N hatch features a new look with sharper LED lighting, revised bumpers, and aerodynamic improvements.
The addition of the automatic i30 N is likely to give local sales of the model a significant boost. The i30 2021 facelift has been revealed for entry-level variants and the mid-range N-Line, but the test car still hides the most hardcore version of the update. The test car rolling around in Sydney still hides the most hardcore version of the update, with significant redesign and DCT foray expected.
Stay tuned for more updates on the 2021 Hyundai i30 N as it approaches its release date.
