The wait is over, as Hyundai has unveiled the updated 2022 i30 N, a performance-oriented hatchback that promises an exhilarating driving experience. With its sleek design, powerful engine, and advanced features, the i30 N is poised to captivate drivers across Australia.

Power and Performance

Under the hood, the i30 N is equipped with a T-GDI turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol motor, delivering a punchy 206kW and 392Nm. The torque is sent exclusively to the front wheels through either a six-speed manual transmission or the new eight-speed N-DCT, developed by Hyundai Powertech, Hyundai's own development division for engines and transmissions.

The i30 N's dynamic response has been significantly improved thanks to lightweight features and visual upgrades. It boasts 19-inch, five double-spoke, alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tyres, reducing unsprung mass by 14.4kg compared to its predecessor. The front brake disc size has also been increased from 345mm to 360mm for better performance on and off the track.

Advanced Features

The i30 N comes with an N Grin Shift (NGS) feature, providing maximum power from the engine and transmission for a short 20-second burst, activated by pressing a button mounted on the sports steering wheel. The N Grin Control System includes five distinct driving modes, allowing drivers to tailor their driving experience according to their preferences.

The i30 N also features N Track Sense Shift (NTS), which automatically recognises when the driver is in a dynamic situation or on the racetrack, and makes adjustments to the powertrain and gearbox accordingly. Additionally, the car has an electronically controlled limited-slip differential (eLSD) for improved traction.

Comfort and Convenience

The i30 N Premium variant offers a host of comfort and convenience features. These include lightweight, one-piece sports bucket seats adorned in leather and Alcantara for the first time, parking distance warning (front), N light seats (fixed headrest bucket seats), electro-chromatic interior mirror, rain sensing wipers, heated front seats and steering wheel, rear privacy glass, and an Alcantara/leather-appointed interior.

Pricing and Availability

The updated 2022 Hyundai i30 N is now available in Australia, with the manual version priced from AUD $44,500 and the auto version priced at AUD $47,500. The i30 N can be had in two model variants - i30 N and the i30 N Premium, which can be optioned with a sunroof.

Hyundai offers both lifetime and pre-paid servicing plans for the i30 N, ensuring peace of mind for its owners. The i30 N comes with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty that also covers non-competition track driving, including the fitment of performance-oriented tyres.

In conclusion, the 2022 Hyundai i30 N is a compelling offering for those seeking a thrilling driving experience without compromising on comfort and convenience. With its powerful engine, advanced features, and stylish design, the i30 N is set to redefine the performance hatchback segment in Australia.
