On September 1, 2025, two new schools opened their doors in Tallinn, Estonia. These schools, Tallinna Avatud Kool and Tallinna Põhjatähe Põhikool, are now offering education for primary and lower secondary levels.
Tallinna Avatud Kool, founded in 1999, has undergone a significant transformation. As of September 1, 2025, it has become an Estonian-language district school for grades 1 through 9. The school's photographer was recently on a visit to Tallinna Avatud Kool on Monday.
Tallinna Põhjatähe Põhikool, a new municipal basic school in Põhja-Tallinn, also opened its doors on September 1. Both schools are separate entities, despite sharing the common opening date.
It's forecasted that more than 3,700 students are due to enter the first grade of municipal schools in Tallinn this year, including students of Tallinna Avatud Kool. This number underscores the growing demand for quality education in the city.
Tallinna Avatud Kool and Tallinna Põhjatähe Põhikool are not identical schools, but they share a common purpose: to provide quality education to the students of Tallinn.
