Impact of climate change on city trees

Urban trees have been identified as crucial natural climate adaptation instruments, and on Wednesday, July 23, from 5 to 6:30 PM, participants can join an event to learn more about their role in city climate adaptation.

The "Urban Trees in a Changing Climate" event, part of the "Woche der Klimaanpassung" (Week of Climate Adaptation), is being organised by the Zentrum KlimaAnpassung. The event is one of the Klimarundgänge (climate walks) that the organization conducts, in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection.

The event, which is scheduled to take place at the entrance to the Schöntalpark in Goldbacher Straße, will be led by Antonia Pfeiffer, the city's climate adaptation manager, and tree expert Benedikt Merget. The walk will showcase measures being taken to protect and promote urban trees, with a focus on how they cope with rising temperatures and changing water availability.

Participation in the event is free, and registration is required. The registration process for the event is online, and can be done through the event's website at www.unsere-website.de/klimarundgang or via the registration page at https://stadtab_klima.ticketmachine.de/de. Registration is necessary to secure a spot, as the event is expected to attract a large number of participants.

The walk aims to provide insights into the importance of urban trees for city climate, and will offer information about the measures being taken to protect and promote them. The event is a valuable opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about the role of urban trees in climate adaptation, and how they can contribute to a more sustainable city.

The "Urban Trees in a Changing Climate" event is just one of many initiatives aimed at promoting climate adaptation in cities. Urban trees are an important part of the solution to the challenges posed by a changing climate, and events like this one are essential in raising awareness about their importance and the measures being taken to protect them. So, if you're interested in learning more about urban trees and their role in city climate adaptation, be sure to register for the "Urban Trees in a Changing Climate" event on July 23.
