Braunschweig Customs Office Seizes Counterfeit Goods Worth Millions

Last Friday, the Braunschweig Customs Office conducted an inspection at a wholesaler's warehouse in Braunschweig, leading to the discovery of a significant haul of counterfeit goods. The seized items, with a trade value of approximately €3.6 million, included various goods that appeared to infringe on the rights and designs of well-known manufacturers.

During the inspection, customs officers discovered 598 untaxed disposable e-cigarettes with over 12,000 ml of liquid. This finding revealed that tobacco tax was evaded, resulting in a tax loss of €3,150.

Following the inspection, a tax assessment notice was issued, and a criminal proceeding was initiated against the business owner. To determine if the seized goods are counterfeits, the rights holders have been contacted for their assessment.

The further investigation will be conducted by the Braunschweig Customs Office and the Braunschweig Public Prosecutor's Office. For more information about the Braunschweig Customs Office, visit their website at www.zoll.de.
