Improved RTX 5090D V2 Performance Shows Potential for 384-bit Memory Sufficiency - Chinese-Version GPU Exhibits Minimal 2.2% Difference with 5090D in Specific Benchmark Tests

In a recent benchmarking analysis by Yesky, the new RTX 5090D V2 has been compared to its original counterpart, the RTX 5090D. The RTX 5090D V2 is a modified version of the RTX 5090D, designed to comply with U.S. export trade restrictions aimed at China.

Despite the lowered specs, the RTX 5090D V2 maintained virtually identical performance to the RTX 5090D in all benchmark runs. Any gaps between the two GPUs were pretty marginal.

In gaming tests, the RTX 5090D V2 scored nearly the same as the RTX 5090D in popular titles such as Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk 2077, Borderlands 3, and Far Cry: New Dawn. For instance, in Hogwarts Legacy with DLSS 4 at 1440p, the RTX 5090D scored 300 FPS and the RTX 5090D V2 scored 297 FPS. Similarly, in Cyberpunk 2077 with DLSS 4 at 1440p, the RTX 5090D scored 424 FPS and the RTX 5090D V2 scored 418 FPS.

The performance difference became even more negligible when testing at 4k resolution. In Hogwarts Legacy at 4k, the RTX 5090D scored 259 FPS and the RTX 5090D V2 scored 253 FPS. In Borderlands 3 at 4k, the RTX 5090D scored 164 FPS and the RTX 5090D V2 scored 161 FPS.

In terms of benchmark scores, the RTX 5090D V2 also showed comparable results. In 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra, the RTX 5090D scored 33,912 and the RTX 5090D V2 scored 33,703. In 3DMark TimeSpy Extreme, the RTX 5090D scored 25,366 and the RTX 5090D V2 scored 25,105. The gaps between the two GPUs were minor in other benchmarks like 3DMark Fire Strike, 3DMark Port Royal, 3DMark Steel Nomad, and 3DMark Speed Way.

Interestingly, Nvidia's architectures might not be capable of taking advantage of 512-bit interfaces for gaming, even at 4k resolution. This is evident in the RTX 5090D V2, which features a 24GB GDDR7 memory configuration and a 384-bit interface, a change from the RTX 5090D's 32GB 512-bit configuration.

Despite the lowered specs, the RTX 5090D V2 costs the same as the outgoing 5090D. This move by the manufacturer has sparked discussions among tech enthusiasts and gamers alike.

In conclusion, the RTX 5090D V2 is a slightly neutered version of the RTX 5090D, designed to comply with U.S. export trade restrictions. Despite the lowered memory configuration, the RTX 5090D V2 shows virtually no performance loss compared to the RTX 5090D in benchmark runs and gaming tests.
