Getir Secures Decision to Continue Operations in the Netherlands, Quelling Speculations of Departure

In contrary to speculations, Getir will continue its operations in the Netherlands

In the rapidly evolving world of fast delivery services, one company, Getir, is currently grappling with a series of challenges. The Turkish speed delivery service, which also operates in Germany, Britain, the US, and the Netherlands, is struggling to close a long-standing funding round.

This funding difficulty could potentially impact Getir's operations in the Netherlands, where it has been facing regulatory uncertainties and local complaints similar to those experienced by Zapp, a British fast delivery firm that withdrew from the country last year.

Getir's founder, Nazım Salur, launched the company with the aim of revolutionising the way people shop for everyday essentials. The company's success is evident in the fact that approximately 96% of its revenue is generated in the five countries it operates in.

However, in the Netherlands, Getir has been receiving complaints from locals about nuisance noise and traffic from its depots. In response, the Amsterdam city council has been limiting the locations of fast delivery service depots to less central industrial estates.

These challenges could be affecting Getir's operations in the Netherlands, leading to the company's decision to withdraw from Spain, Italy, and Portugal. Despite this setback, Getir will continue to operate in Turkey, Germany, Britain, and the US.

Last year, Getir made a significant move by taking over the German firm Gorillas, a move that further expanded its reach. The company sees its best chances of success in the five countries where it currently operates.

However, the Amsterdam city council's restrictions on fast delivery service depots could further impact Getir's operations in the Netherlands. Zapp's withdrawal from the Netherlands was also attributed to uncertainties caused by changing rules and regulations concerning distribution centers.

As Getir navigates these challenges, it finds itself in a major cash crisis. The company will need to find solutions to these issues to ensure its continued success in the competitive fast delivery service market.
