In Mülheim, Vodafone constructs infrastructure; initial limitations followed by enhanced mobile coverage
Vodafone Expands Infrastructure in Germany, Modernizes Mobile Station in Muelheim
Vodafone, the largest national subsidiary of the Vodafone Group and one of the world's largest telecommunications companies, is driving infrastructure expansion in Germany. The company has reached two-thirds of all German households with gigabit speed in its nationwide cable-fiber network.
In a significant development, Vodafone will conduct network modernization works in Muelheim's Eppinghofen district from September 1 to approximately September 15, 2025. This project forms an important part of Vodafone's network expansion in the district, aimed at meeting the growing demand for mobile data traffic.
The construction work involves installing additional broadband antennas to future-proof the mobile station and build a new mobile data highway. This move is a response to the rapid growth in mobile data traffic in Muelheim, which currently has an annual growth rate of over 30%.
During the construction period, the local mobile station will be unavailable, and mobile traffic will be routed via nearby stations. Temporary restrictions for individual customers, such as a weaker network or no reception at all, cannot be completely avoided during the shutdown period.
However, emergency calls to 112 are not affected, and the location of the caller will continue to be automatically transmitted to the emergency control center.
Vodafone is committed to operating sustainably and protecting the environment. The company aims to be carbon neutral by 2025 and emission-free by 2040. Alongside its partner OXG, Vodafone is building up to seven million new FTTH fiber connections in the coming years.
With over 30 million mobile, over 10 million broadband, and around 12 million TV customers in Germany, Vodafone is one of the leading communications companies in the country. The company generates an annual turnover of approximately 13 billion euros with around 15,000 employees.
Vodafone's 5G network reaches more than 90% of the population in Germany, and its machine network (Narrowband IoT) covers more than 97% of German territory for industry and business.
The company values and respects all people, promoting diversity through numerous measures such as work-life balance offers and networks for women, fathers, or LGBT+.

The construction work in Grabow, a city in Germany, is scheduled from September 8 to approximately September 19, 2025, ending at 5:30 PM. This modernization of a mobile phone station is part of Vodafone's ongoing efforts to provide high-speed connectivity and future-proof its network across Germany.
