In spite of a preceding red card, Vannes emerges victorious against Soyaux-Angoulême during the closing moments of the second day in Pro D2 competition.

RC Vannes, the French rugby club competing in the Pro D2, secured their first victory of the season on a Friday evening against Soyaux-Angoulême. The final score was 28-9, a much-needed win for the team that was relegated from the Top 14 last season.

The match began with a strong start for Vannes, as Michael Ruru scored the first try in the 16th minute. This was followed by another try from a penalty in the 20th minute, giving Vannes an early 12-0 lead.

Soyaux-Angoulême struggled to find their footing, and Vannes continued to dominate the game. Joe Edwards added another try for Vannes in the 55th minute, extending their lead to 17-3.

However, just before halftime, Vannes thought they had extended their lead further, but a head-high tackle resulted in a red card for Pierre Boudehent. This left Vannes with 14 men to face the second half, but they held on, preventing Soyaux-Angoulême from crossing their try line.

Down to a man disadvantage, Vannes showed great resilience and determination. In the 80th minute, Nick Schonert scored a try, earning the bonus point and securing a well-deserved 28-9 victory. The fourth and final try of the match came just before the final whistle, a fitting end to a hard-fought game.

Jean-Noël Spitzer, the head coach of RC Vannes, was delighted with the team's performance. He has been aiming to revive the team's collective rhythm and effectiveness following their relegation to Pro D2, and this victory is a significant step towards achieving that goal.

This win was Vannes' first since late April, a long-awaited victory that will undoubtedly boost the team's morale and confidence as they continue their journey in the Pro D2.
