Pakistan's Shoaib Khan Zehri to Challenge for UBO World Title
Pakistan's top boxer, Shoaib Khan Zehri, is all set to make history as he prepares to represent the country in the Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) World title bout. Zehri, a WBC gold medalist and the Pakistan Boxing Council (PBC) national champion, will face Indian boxer Thakur Kumar on September 27 in Turkiye.
Zehri has been impressing the boxing world with his consistent performances. In his latest outing on November 8, 2024, at the Fitbox Fighting Championship, he secured a unanimous decision victory. This win came after a third-round TKO victory over Thailand's Sornram Sopakul on September 28, 2022, and a unanimous decision win against Indonesia's Hendrik Barongsay on November 30, 2022.
Zehri's professional record stands at six wins, one draw, and one cancelled bout, making him an unbeaten force in the ring. His determination to bring glory to Pakistan is evident, as he expressed ahead of the bout.
In addition to his boxing achievements, Zehri has also been recognised for his contributions off the field. He was appointed as the goodwill ambassador by the Balochistan Police and was awarded the honorary rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari on February 19. Naseem Shah, a fast bowler, was the first athlete from the province to be given this honour, preceding Shoaib Khan Zehri.
Zehri heads Chief SKZ Promotion and trains tirelessly, focusing on discipline, endurance, and strategy. His preparations for the UBO World title bout have been intense, as he aims to make a mark in Pakistan's 76-year boxing history.
The UBO World title bout is a significant milestone for Pakistani boxing. Shoaib Khan Zehri, Pakistan's sole representative in the prestigious event, will strive to make the country proud. Let's cheer for him as he steps into the ring!
