In the heart of Germany, the historic city of Trier is witnessing a concerning trend - an increase in crime on its trains. According to numerous reports, passengers have been expressing feelings of unease due to the escalating incidents.

The Federal Police have been actively patrolling the trains, uncovering instances of drug possession and illegal entries. In an effort to educate the public, they have been conducting demonstrations on how to better protect valuables from potential criminals.

The surge in crime is not limited to drug-related offenses. Sexual assaults, property damage, and robberies have also been reported, painting a picture of a growing problem. Last year, the number of offenses on trains in Trier exceeded 700, a significant jump from previous years which typically saw about 500 incidents.

Despite a slight decrease in registered crimes in the first half of this year, the police have yet to declare a downward trend. This is likely due to the high of over 700 incidents recorded in the previous year, which, unfortunately, remains the highest on record with no search results providing the exact number for the year with the highest incidents reported by the Bundespolizei Trier.

In response to the rising crime, the Federal Police have planned an action for October at the Porta Nigra in Trier. This event is part of a Europe-wide campaign, "Stop Pickpockets," aimed at reducing pickpocketing on trains and at train stations.

The police are also increasing their presence on trains, with officers patrolling both in uniform and civilian clothes. In addition, they have been questioning passengers for violations of the Residence Act.

To prevent future violence, the Federal Police are regularly visiting schools in Trier to educate students about civil courage. This initiative aims to empower young people to take action in situations where they witness or are subjected to crime.

It's important to note that a survey on train travelers' safety at Trier Central Station was non-representative. However, the concerns raised by passengers cannot be ignored, and the police are committed to addressing the rise in crime on trains.

As the situation evolves, it is hoped that these measures will help ensure the safety of train travelers in Trier and bring a sense of security back to the city's trains.
