Increased frequency and passenger count on railways

In a recent development, Transport Minister Winfried Hermann has announced that public transport in the region of Baden-Württemberg has seen significant improvements. This positive development, as stated by Minister Hermann, benefits all those involved, particularly the passengers.

Despite challenges posed by construction activities on the rail network and the Stuttgart 21 major construction site, the improvements in public transport are evident. The state's efforts towards climate protection in transport have been reflected in these improvements.

Over the past few years, the region has initiated and implemented numerous smart regional passenger rail transport (SPNV) projects. These projects focus on sustainable and integrated mobility solutions. For instance, the regional railway RB63 between Eberswalde and Templin has been developed into a main access axis. Additionally, bus excursion lines in the Oder-Spree lake region have been enhanced through cooperation between transport and tourism organizations.

The successes of these projects have been quantified in numbers, according to the SPNV Report 2019 to 2024. The report, which has been published, shows an increase of 43 percent in passenger kilometers in regional transport. More trains and more passengers are now available, as stated by Minister Hermann.

Minister Hermann is pleased with the positive development of the SPNV in Baden-Württemberg and believes that these improvements will continue to benefit the region and its inhabitants. For more information, the Ministry of Transport can be contacted via the Press Office or the Citizen's Representative.
