Increased Powerball jackpot reaches an estimated $1.1 billion due to no winning tickets in the Saturday draw.
The Powerball jackpot has reached an estimated $1.1 billion, making it the sixth time in the game's 33-year history that the top prize has climbed to the billion-dollar mark. The next drawing will take place on Monday at 11 p.m. ET in the Florida Lottery live draw studio in Tallahassee.
Tickets for Powerball are $2 and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. If won on Monday, the Powerball jackpot would offer a lump sum payment of $498.4 million before taxes. Each annual payment in the Powerball annuity option is also before taxes. The annuity option for the Powerball jackpot consists of one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.
Saturday's Powerball drawing saw no ticket matching all six numbers, leaving the jackpot unclaimed. However, nine tickets matched all five white balls, winning $1 million each. The winning numbers for Saturday's drawing were 3, 18, 22, 27, 33, and a Powerball of 17.
The city in the United States where the record Powerball jackpot of $2.04 billion was won in 2022 is in California. Kierra Frazier contributed to this Powerball report, with Kiki Intarasuwan serving as the news editor for our News & Stations.
Interestingly, the last time Powerball's jackpot was won was on May 31, when a single ticket in California claimed a $204.5 million jackpot. The largest Powerball jackpot in both Powerball and lottery history remains the $2.04 billion won in California in 2022.
Powerball players across the participating states, territories, and districts are eagerly awaiting Monday's drawing, hoping to become the lucky winner of the record-breaking $1.1 billion jackpot. Good luck to all participants!
