Increased use of flammable substances in structures leads to intense smoky conditions

A fire broke out at 6:13 PM on the 4th floor of a parking garage in Silberstraße, Dortmund. The fire involved construction materials on a parking deck that is currently under renovation.

An employee noticed the fire and immediately alerted the fire department, which dispatched a "building alarm" due to the structural connection between the parking garage and the nearby Saturn store. Three fire trucks from both the professional and volunteer fire departments were dispatched to the scene.

The first fire truck performed a quick extinguishing operation from the outside, while another fire truck was deployed to check adjacent areas and sales floors due to heavy smoke. Thankfully, no people were at risk during the fire.

The fire was quickly resolved, but the cause of the incident is still under investigation by the police. The Press Office for the Fire Department Dortmund can be contacted at Oliver Körner (0231/8455000, [email protected], or dortmund.de/feuerwehr).

We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available. Stay safe, everyone.
