Indian Prime Minister Modi brings up Pakistan's cross-border terrorism matter before Chinese President Jinping, receiving agreement for continued support from China.

In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tianjin, China, on Sunday. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, where Russian President Vladimir Putin and other world leaders were also in attendance.

The bilateral meeting between PM Modi and Xi Jinping was marked by a warm welcome, with the Chinese President and his wife, Peng Liyuan, extending a cordial reception to the Indian Prime Minister.

During the discussion, the focus was on the issue of cross-border terrorism, a priority for India, especially in light of the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 individuals. PM Modi underlined the importance of addressing this issue and sought China's understanding and cooperation in dealing with it.

The Indian Armed Forces had launched 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). However, no new facts about this operation were disclosed during the SCO summit.

India received China's support and cooperation in combating cross-border terrorism during the summit discussions, a topic that has been a focal point due to recent tensions between India and Pakistan.

Both leaders also recognised the role of India and China's economies in stabilising global trade. PM Modi invited Xi Jinping to the BRICS Summit that India will host in 2026.

The official program of the SCO summit will begin on September 1. The statement about India and China's role in stabilising global trade was issued by the Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday.

In a symbolic gesture, PM Modi attended a family photo with other world leaders, symbolising unity and cooperation among nations. The SCO summit aims to strengthen regional cooperation and promote peace, security, and economic development in the region.
