Individual in Germany Crashes Vehicle onto Racing Track
In an unusual incident, a car ended up on a railway track in Erlangen, Germany, on September 6th, at around 10 a.m. The vehicle, belonging to an 87-year-old German man, became stuck due to its tires digging into the soft ground.
The car was stranded in the goods yard area of Erlangen. The German railway used a handcar to remove the car from the track, but the fire department was unable to tow the vehicle away as a tow truck could not reach the narrow path.
The Federal Police Inspectorate Nuremberg, responsible for ensuring safety and investigating crimes in Deutsche Bahn facilities within its jurisdiction, has initiated an investigation for endangering railway traffic and property damage. The jurisdiction of the Federal Police Inspectorate Nuremberg covers 1,823 kilometers of track, 309 train stations and halts, and multiple cities and a significant portion of the Bavarian region.
The man who drove onto a footpath next to the tracks and accidentally activated a switch was taken to a hospital for observation. No one was injured in the incident because the track was not in use.
The Federal Police Inspectorate Nuremberg's headquarters is located at Bahnhofsplatz 6, 90443 Nuremberg. The inspectorate has stations in Augsburg, Ingolstadt, and Ansbach, and its jurisdiction corresponds to approximately 23 percent of the area of Bavaria.
