In a significant address at the Kembara Segulai Sejalai Belia Sarawak 2025 programme in Kuching, Malaysia on September 6, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof emphasized the importance of unity, stability, and national harmony in Malaysia.

Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof's comments came in light of recent peaceful demonstrations in Indonesia, which he noted could potentially turn chaotic. The Deputy Prime Minister urged all parties in Malaysia to learn from these events and remain vigilant in maintaining stability within the country.

In his speech, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof stressed the need for effective governance, stating that stability and peace are crucial for a strong economy. A strong economy, he added, attracts investors and creates job opportunities.

The Malaysian government has taken diplomatic and strategic measures to ensure that unrest or actions in Indonesia do not spread to its own territory. This is likely achieved by enhancing regional cooperation and security coordination within Southeast Asia frameworks like ASEAN and by engaging in multilateral alliances such as BRICS to stabilize economic and political relations in the region.

Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof's comments were made without specifying which specific narratives he was referring to. However, he did mention that certain narratives have stoked public anger in Indonesia.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also expressed hope that the demonstrations in Indonesia would end soon. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, in a recent meeting in Beijing, informed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that the situation in the republic had improved.

In conclusion, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof's speech serves as a call for unity and stability in Malaysia, encouraging all parties to learn from the recent demonstrations in Indonesia and to work towards maintaining peace and effective governance in the country.
