Indore announces school vacation today due to intense rainfall
Indore, the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh, is currently experiencing an unprecedented monsoon season. The city, known for its bustling streets and vibrant markets, has been transformed into a city of rivers due to the heavy rainfall it has been receiving.
In the past few days, the roads of Indore have been turned into waterways, with standing water and flooded streets becoming a common sight. Netizens have been actively sharing reels of the flooded roads on the internet, painting a picture of the city's current state.
The meteorological department has forecasted moderate to heavy rainfall for the next 5 to 7 days, which is expected to compensate for the rainfall deficit of July and August. However, the meteorologist making these predictions remains unnamed.
The heavy rains have resulted in a drop in temperatures, with the maximum temperature on Thursday being 24.0°C, six degrees below normal. Surprisingly, the minimum temperature on Thursday was 23.2°C, about two degrees above normal, creating an unusual temperature fluctuation.
On Friday, Indore recorded 1.7 inches of rainfall between 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM. This week, the city has recorded nearly 7 inches of rainfall from Wednesday night to Thursday, which is already higher than the monthly average of 6 inches for September.
The continuous heavy rains have prompted the collector of Indore to declare a holiday for students from classes 1 to 12 and Anganwadi centres on September 6. Weather experts believe Indore will not only achieve its rainfall target but may also witness above-average rainfall this season, with 25 days of September remaining.
The rainfall situation in Indore is being closely monitored by weather experts. As of now, Indore has received 33.5 inches of rainfall this monsoon, which is just 4.5 inches short of the average quota of 38 inches.
In conclusion, the city of Indore is currently battling the aftermath of heavy rains, with streets turning into rivers and temperatures dropping significantly. However, the city's resilience and spirit remain unbroken, as they brace themselves for more rain in the coming days.
