The city of Bottrop is gearing up for an exciting event on July 3, 2025, as it hosts a free seminar on "Climate-friendly Gardening." This initiative is part of the larger intermunicipal and Ruhr region-wide project, Prima.Clima.RuhrMetropole., which aims to create eight experimental and innovative energy quarters in the Ruhr Metropolitan Area by 2029.
The Prima.Clima.RuhrMetropole. project, managed by a specially appointed project management team, is making significant strides in Kirchhellen. This project is focusing on the heat sector, energetic building renovation, and climate adaptation, with measures to address heat and heavy rain problems.
Additional funding for creating quarter concepts and renovation management will be provided by KfW Bank and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The city of Bottrop is also committed to securing additional funding for the implementation of project ideas in the neighbourhood.
The kick-off event for citizens took place in February 2025, and the entire project team expressed their gratitude for the informative exchange during the event. The implementation phase will now specify project outlines into implementable concepts and implement them on site with the help of a renovation management.
