Ingolstadt FC competes in the Toto Cup match held in Landsberg, accompanied by a blaze.
In a thrilling turn of events, FC Ingolstadt managed to secure their place in the quarterfinals of the Toto Cup, following a hard-fought victory against TSV Landsberg. The match, which was broadcast on BR and Magenta Sport, saw the hosts take an early lead, but Ingolstadt fought back valiantly to overturn a 0:2 deficit and eventually win 7:4.
The first half of the match was quite hectic, with both teams showing determination and skill. Kilian Pittrich scored for Landsberg in the 23rd minute, giving them a 1:0 lead. However, Daniele Sgodzaj responded for Landsberg in the 26th minute, making it 2:0.
Despite the early setback, Ingolstadt did not lose hope. Max Plath replaced Lukas Frode at half-time, and the team aimed to be calmer on the ball. Their efforts paid off, as Simon Lorenz and Fredrik Carlsen had chances to give FCI the lead before the 26th minute.
Mads Borchers scored from 16 meters in the 31st minute, and Carlsen scored a tap-in in the 35th minute, equalizing the score for FCI before half-time. The second half saw a flurry of goals, with Ingolstadt eventually emerging victorious.
The victory was a significant one for Ingolstadt, who currently find themselves in the relegation place 17 in the league. The team aims to earn three points to move away from this position and secure their place in the top division.
Right-back Mattis Hoppe commented on the match on the FCI homepage, praising the team's resilience and determination. He said, "We knew it wouldn't be easy, but we never gave up. We fought hard, and it paid off in the end."
With their place in the quarterfinals of the Toto Cup secured, Ingolstadt will now face a new challenge. The exact date for the match has not yet been announced, but it is scheduled for mid-November.
Meanwhile, Ingolstadt's next league match will be against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 on September 13. Schweinfurt have not earned any points or scored any goals in the league so far, so Ingolstadt will be hoping to capitalise on this and secure another victory.
