Initiating Age Advancement Campaign: "Embracing Old Age"
The city of Marburg, along with local clubs and the Marburg volunteer agency (FAM), are organising the "Move into Age" Action Month from September 1st to October 1st, 2025. This exciting event aims to inspire movement, combat loneliness, and contribute to health maintenance, with over 200 activities on offer.
The action month begins with a joint 3,000-step walk led by Mayor Dr. Thomas Spies, starting at 4 pm on September 1st at the bus stop "Auf der Weide." This walk is a great opportunity for the community to come together and kick off the action month in style.
Throughout the month, participants can take part in a wide variety of activities. From sports like hiking and Nordic walking, to yoga and self-defense, there's something for everyone. The program also includes ball sports, various kinds of gymnastics, rowing, dragon boat paddling, and a range of dancing styles.
One of the highlights of the action month is the inclusive hiking event, which is part of the action month program. This event encourages people of all ages and abilities to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.
Professor Dr. Ralf Laging will give a lecture on "Movement knows no age - everyday life as an opportunity" at BiP on September 4th, at 5 pm. This talk promises to be insightful and inspiring, offering insights into how everyday life can be enriched through movement.
Participants can collect points during the action month using an action card, which they can return to BiP at the end of the action month to enter the draw for a prize. The winner of the draw will be announced during the dance festival on October 1st, which marks the conclusion of the action month.
The dance festival takes place at KFZ in Biegenstraße 13 from 4 pm on October 1st. This event features guided dances, info stands of the Marburg dance scene, and an open dance party, providing a fun and energetic way to end the action month.
The intergenerational "talk and walk" on the topic of "What moves us in everyday life?" is also part of the action month, offering a chance for people of different ages to share their experiences and insights.
The film "Ice Aged" will be shown at the Capitol cinema on September 10th, at 5 pm, about older people trying out ice skating. This film provides a great example of the action month's theme - that movement knows no age.
The "Move into Age" Action Month is a fantastic opportunity for the community in Marburg to come together, get active, and have fun. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out, there's something for everyone. So why not join in and make the most of this exciting event?
