Intense DTM Championship battle, will Auer maintain his composure at the Sachsenring?
The sixth DTM weekend is set to take place at the Sachsenring, a track renowned for its fast corners and blind crests. Located west of Chemnitz, the track boasts significant elevation changes and a maximum gradient of 12.8 percent, providing a challenging yet thrilling experience for drivers.
This year, the Sachsenring will play host to three series, including the ADAC GT4 Germany, the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland, and the NXT Gen Cup. These series will accompany the DTM, promising a weekend filled with non-stop racing action.
For the DTM drivers, adapting to the comparatively high grip of the Sachsenring track will be crucial. Lucas Auer will lead the charge, aiming to build on his success and secure a strong position in the championship standings.
Maximilian Paul, a local hero racing for Paul Motorsport, has noted that tire wear is usually high on the Sachsenring, allowing only one fast lap in qualifying. Despite this challenge, Paul is looking forward to the DTM weekend at the Sachsenring with his fans.
The event will also feature show runs of cult cars from 40 years of DTM. Fans can expect to see iconic vehicles such as an Abt Audi TT-R or a Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II providing a nostalgic flair on all three event days.
In 2019, Jules Gounon set the fastest lap time at the DTM test day at the Sachsenring with a time of 1:18.872 minutes. With such a competitive field, it remains to be seen if anyone can match or beat this record this year.
In addition to the DTM, the Sachsenring is also a motorcycle circuit and hosts the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. This means that racing fans will have two exciting events to enjoy over the weekend.
With its fast corners, blind crests, and high tire wear, the Sachsenring promises to deliver an exciting and challenging weekend of racing. Don't miss out on the action!
