Inter Milan Confirm Hakan Calhanoglu's Inclusion in Champions League Squad

Inter Milan have announced their squad for the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League, with midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu included in the list. The Turkish international will be part of a star-studded team that includes the likes of Yann Sommer, Denzel Dumfries, Stefan De Vrij, Piotr Zielinski, Petar Susic, Marcus Thuram, Lautaro Martinez, Luis Henrique, Raffaele Di Gennaro, Josep Martinez, Ange-Yoan Bonny, Francesco Acerbi, Davide Frattesi, Andy Diouf, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Nicolo Barella, Manuel Akanji, Carlos Augusto, Yann-Aurel Bisseck, Federico Dimarco, Matteo Darmian, and Alessandro Bastoni.

Despite reports suggesting that Calhanoglu was willing to accept a salary determined by Galatasaray's club president, Inter Milan have stood firm and declined the Turkish club's offer, citing the difficulty of replacing the midfielder in the squad. The offer from Galatasaray was made official on Sept. 1, but Inter Milan ultimately decided to keep Calhanoglu as part of their Champions League squad.

The interest from Galatasaray in Calhanoglu intensified during the 2025 summer transfer window, with negotiations between the player's representatives and the Turkish club's management accelerating from July to August. Calhanoglu's agent even visited Istanbul to discuss the potential move, but it seems that Inter Milan were not willing to let go of their valuable asset.

Galatasaray had proposed a swap deal involving Gabriel Sara plus cash for Calhanoglu in June 2025, but this offer was also rejected by the Italian giants. As it stands, Calhanoglu remains an Inter Milan player for the Champions League, postponing Galatasaray's hopes of signing him until at least January.

UEFA's official list has confirmed Calhanoglu's inclusion in Inter Milan's Champions League squad for the 2025-2026 season. The midfielder has expressed his enthusiasm for a move to Galatasaray, stating he has dreamt of playing for the club since childhood. However, for now, Calhanoglu will be wearing Inter Milan's colours in the Champions League, as the Italian club looks to challenge for the coveted trophy.
