Hamburg Internship Week 2025: Connecting Youth with the Economy

The Hamburg Internship Week, an initiative organised by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with partners such as the Youth Employment Agency Hamburg, the Office for School and Vocational Training, and the Hamburg Chamber of Crafts, is set to take place from July 14 to September 3, 2025.

This event offers an excellent opportunity for young people aged 15 and above to gain practical work experience at various participating businesses. In 2024, around 1,000 short internships were offered at about 100 businesses, with some notable participants including Hamburger Sparkasse, Budni, Motel One, and Allianz.

The matching between companies and students is facilitated through a platform where both sides can create their own profiles. Participants can visit up to five different companies, either in one go or spread out over the summer holidays. It's worth noting that this event is not exclusive to students of Uni Hamburg, as it is open to all young people in the age group mentioned.

Norbert Aust, President of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, stated that the Internship Week connects the Hamburg economy with the workforce of tomorrow. The Internship Week is not the only event organised by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, as it is part of a broader effort to foster employment opportunities and entrepreneurship in the city.

The Internship Week is not the only driving force for start-up opportunities in Hamburg. Uni Hamburg also offers a start-up opportunities program, although details about its connection to the Internship Week are not provided. Other initiatives are also in place to support young entrepreneurs in the city.

It's important to note that the Hamburg Internship Week is a separate event from the Young Makers Festival, which focuses on teaching young people about founding and entrepreneurship.

The Hamburg Internship Week has been recognised for its efforts, with the Bildungsmonitor 2024 ranking Hamburg in the top 3 in a specific category, although the exact ranking category is not mentioned.

Participation in the Internship Week is free, making it an accessible opportunity for young people to gain valuable work experience and connect with potential employers. With a wide range of participating businesses from sectors such as craftsmanship, administration, media, social services, retail, finance, and services, there's something for everyone.

So, whether you're a student looking to gain practical experience or a young person interested in exploring potential career paths, the Hamburg Internship Week is an event not to be missed. Mark your calendars for July 14 to September 3, 2025, and get ready to connect with the Hamburg economy!
