International Aluminum Boom - Istanbul Emerges as Global Hub for Non-Iron Metal Industry at ALUEXPO 2025
Türkiye's aluminium industry is thriving, with domestic demand on the rise due to factors such as urbanisation, infrastructure expansion, industrial facilities, and mobility solutions. This growth is reflected in the increasing demand for aluminium products across various sectors, including construction, transport, electrical engineering, packaging, and the defense industry.
The versatility, recyclability, and energy efficiency of aluminium make it a popular choice in these industries. Leading companies in the aluminium industry, such as Hydro, Sapa, Novelis, Constellium, and Alcoa, will be showcasing their innovations at ALUEXPO 2025, taking place in Istanbul.
Organised by Messe Duesseldorf Asia in partnership with Deutsche Messe AG, ALUEXPO 2025 is part of Messe Duesseldorf's international trade fair portfolio "The Bright World of Metals". The event brings together industry leaders, innovators, and decision-makers to sustainably promote industrial excellence in Southeast Asia.
Türkiye's position as a key player in international metal trading is further bolstered by its favourable geopolitical location, customs union with the EU, and broad-based industry. The country's annual aluminium production of over 2 million tonnes places it among the most important in the region.
The 12th International Aluminium Symposium, taking place parallel to ALUEXPO 2025, will provide a platform for international experts to discuss the latest scientific findings and technological developments in the aluminium industry. Further information on the symposium can be found at www.alusist.com/English.
Türkiye's growth is not limited to the aluminium industry. With a population of approximately 85 million and a forecast GDP growth of 3.1% for 2025, the country is a dynamic growth market.
In addition to ALUEXPO 2025, Messe Duesseldorf Asia is responsible for 18 leading trade fairs in sectors such as medical technology, occupational safety, packaging, printing, plastics processing, wine and spirits, among others.
The events also highlight forward-looking developments in metallurgical equipment, process technology, and resource-efficient production. METEC Southeast Asia, the region's leading trade fair for metallurgical technologies, plant engineering, and the production of both steel and non-ferrous metals, is a central platform for innovation and sustainability.
Türkiye's exports of aluminium and non-ferrous metals are growing steadily, especially to the EU. The 50% tariffs on aluminium and steel introduced by the US government under President Trump have significantly altered global trade flows, strengthening Türkiye's position as a business location.
At ALUEXPO 2025, 466 exhibitors from 29 countries will present their innovations in the fields of primary and secondary aluminium, foundry machinery, surface technology, recycling, and environmental technology. The event offers a strategic platform for knowledge and networking in the ASEAN region, further cementing Türkiye's role as a hub for the aluminium industry.
