International Gütersloh Event's 48th Edition: Vibrant, Melodic, and Culturally Diverse

Prepare for a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity as Guetersloh International returns for its 48th edition on the 6th and 7th of September, 2025. This well-established event, a significant part of Guetersloh's cultural life, will be held over two days for the first time in its history.

The festival, originally known as the "Day of the Foreign Resident", has been a staple in Guetersloh for 45 years. This year, it will be officially opened at 2:30 pm on Saturday, 6th September, under the motto "Living Together in Guetersloh". The event will be hosted by candidates who have put themselves forward for the integration election.

The heart of Guetersloh International lies in promoting mutual understanding between people of different cultural backgrounds. Over 40 stands in front of the city hall will offer culinary specialties from various countries. Foreign cultural associations from Guetersloh, as well as German Rostbratwurst and Italian ice cream, will ensure a gastronomic journey around the world.

The diverse program on the Sparkassen stage will include folklore, music, and dance groups, as well as individual artists from countries such as Turkey, Greece, Spain, Albania, Portugal, Thailand, Ukraine, Romania, Gambia, Bulgaria, Russia, and Germany. The Serpil-Neuhaus sponsorship association and Marcel Duman with his students on the oriental guitar (Saz) will also perform as part of the program.

Unfortunately, due to organizational reasons, the children's area near the water tower with a bouncy castle and mini-train cannot take place this year. However, informative stands, such as the evangelical church's asylum working group, Gambia aid, and the city of Guetersloh's integration council, will provide information about their work and the upcoming integration council elections on Sunday, 14th September.

For those seeking more information about Guetersloh International, further details can be found on the Guetersloh International website. The symbolic act of "handshaking" will take place during the official opening of the event, symbolising the unity and harmony that Guetersloh International strives to foster.

Guetersloh International is organised and coordinated by the city's integration officer Frank Mertens and his team. As the city celebrates its 200th anniversary on the same weekend, Guetersloh International promises to be a memorable and inclusive celebration for all.
