Introducing AI-Focused Information Security Certification by ISACA
The global professional association for cybersecurity credentials, ISACA, has announced the launch of its new Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM) certification on August 19. The certification is designed to equip cybersecurity leaders with the specialized skills needed to manage evolving security risks related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), implement policy, and ensure its responsible and effective use across the organization.
ISACA has not specified any prerequisites for the AAISM certification beyond holding the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) qualifications. Security professionals who already hold CISM or CISSP are eligible to pursue the AAISM certification.
The AAISM credential covers a comprehensive learning path across three critical domains: AI governance and program management, AI risk management, and AI technologies and controls. This certification is expected to bridge the gap in AI knowledge among digital trust professionals, as a significant percentage of them lacked familiarity with AI, according to ISACA's 2024 research.
In its 2025 AI Pulse Poll, ISACA found that 89% of digital trust professionals say they'll need AI training within the next two years to advance their careers or even keep their current roles. Moreover, 45% of digital trust professionals say they need AI training within the next six months.
Goh Ser Yoong, Head of Compliance at ADVANCE.AI, has stated that the AAISM credential validates information security managers' commitment to elevating their expertise and being attuned to AI's impact on enterprise security.
AAISM is the latest addition to ISACA's advanced AI credentials, joining the ISACA Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) credential. In addition to these certifications, ISACA has released a range of AI courses and resources, including the AI Threat Landscape and Ethical Perspectives in AI courses, to support digital trust professionals.
The AAISM certification is expected to play a crucial role in addressing the growing need for AI expertise among cybersecurity professionals and ensuring digital trust in AI-driven systems.
