In a significant development in the automotive industry, the new Jiyue 01, an electric crossover SUV, has been revealed by the joint venture between Geely and Baidu's Shanghai Mihang Automobile company.
The Jiyue 01, an EV brand owned by Jidu, promises to be a game-changer with its advanced features and innovative technology. The vehicle will be built based on Geely's SEA architecture.
The car boasts an impressive array of 31 sensors for driving assistance, including two lidars and multiple 8-megapixel cameras, in conjunction with the Baidu Apollo system and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip.
Measuring 4853mm/1990mm/1611mm and having a wheelbase of 3000mm, the Jiyue 01 is positioned as a crossover SUV.
Jiyue 01 will offer consumers a choice between a single-motor and a dual-motor version. The single-motor version will be equipped with a 200 kW motor, while the dual-motor version will have a combined power of 400 kW.
For the dual-motor version, a two-color exterior will be available. Additionally, consumers will have the option to choose from different sunroof designs for the Jiyue 01.
The vehicle will also come with three different rim designs, available in both 19-inch and 21-inch. As for the power source, the ternary lithium battery for the Jiyue 01 will be supplied by CATL, while the black model will be powered by lithium iron phosphate battery packs supplied by Honeycomb Energy.
The Jiyue 01 is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of this year. However, details about the cruising range and interior specifics have yet to be revealed.
Interestingly, the new Jiyue 01 was exposed by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on August 14. The company's legal representative is Zhang Quan, Senior Vice President of Geely, and the General Manager is Xia Yiping, CEO of Jidu Automobile.
Jiyue was established on August 9, 2021, with a total registered capital of 10 million yuan.
In other news, the updated Lynk & Co 07 and 08 have been officially revealed in China, featuring LiDAR sensor. Meanwhile, the Geely Galaxy's Starshine 6 PHEV sedan has been unveiled in official images.
