In the world of automobiles, August 16th is shaping up to be an exciting day. Here's a rundown of the key events and launches happening on this date.

Fang Cheng Bao Automobile is set to hold a brand and technology conference, where they are expected to showcase their brand's image, technological roadmap, and launch their first mass-produced model, the Fang Cheng Bao Leopard 5. The Leopard 5, with its retro exterior design, is equipped with front and rear dual motors, three differential locks, and offers a combined range of up to 1,200 kilometers.

Meanwhile, Dongfeng Aeolus has officially launched its hybrid SUV, Haohan. The Haohan comes in both 1.5T gasoline and 1.5T hybrid power options and is built on the Dongfeng Group's DSMA 2.0 platform. A pure electric version of the Haohan has also been released.

However, the top speed claim of the BYD Yangwang U9, another electric vehicle, is being disputed. The U9 achieved a top speed of 472.41 km/h, but some argue that it did not set a new global EV speed record.

Exeed Motors is also holding a launch event for its Star Era ES (Sterra ES) model on August 16th. Details about the Star Era ES models are scarce, but they are expected to debut with the Xunfei Starfire cognitive large model.

Unrelated to the August 16th events, it's worth noting that Wang Jun, previously suspended from Huawei, has returned to Huawei's automotive BU, taking charge of strategic planning. Before his suspension, Wang Jun served as the COO of Huawei's automotive BU and the president of the Intelligent Driving Solutions product line. He was the main person responsible for Huawei's "HI mode." Zhu Ling has taken over Huawei's strategic planning for the automotive allocation sector.

Lastly, BYD is exporting its EVs from a plant in Thailand to avoid EU tariffs.

While these events promise to bring excitement and innovation to the automotive industry, it remains to be seen how they will shape the future of electric and hybrid vehicles. Stay tuned for more updates!
