Investigation Underway: Theft of Non-ferrous Metals, Illegal Substances, and a Stolen Bicycle - The federal police in BPOL NRW are currently probing the case.

In the city of Dortmund, Germany, a man was apprehended by the Federal Police following a series of copper cable thefts that have recently been plaguing the area.

The suspect, whose identity was known to the authorities, was spotted near Dortmund's Huckarde at around 23:30 on May 30th. Witnesses reported seeing him entering a wooded area, where he proceeded to remove a piece of signal cable, strip its insulation, and place a large amount of bare cable into his backpack.

Upon being alerted by the railway employees, the Federal Police Dortmund swiftly intervened and stopped the man in the immediate vicinity. During a search of his backpack, the police discovered copper cable, various tools, and anesthetic agents.

The Federal Police have initiated an investigation into unauthorized possession of anesthetic agents, theft, and aggravated theft. The investigation is being led by the Federal Police Directorate Saint-Augustin, with the Federal Police Inspectorate Dortmund also involved.

The Lithuanian suspect was taken to the Federal Police station at Dortmund Central Station for photographing and fingerprinting. His bicycle was also seized since he claimed it was not his.

This arrest comes as a response to a significant increase in copper thefts in the area, causing considerable property damage to German Railways. The security forces have been closely monitoring the railway tracks due to this rise in incidents.
