The Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) is hosting a public sculpture competition, inviting artists, designers, collectives, studios, students, and international students in Malaysian institutions aged 16 and above to submit their bold and dynamic designs. This competition, themed "Intersection of Exchanges", aims to capture the spirit of Kuala Lumpur as a global hub rooted in local identity.

The competition, which launched on August 7 and has a deadline for submissions on October 31, offers two categories: the Main Category and the Student Category. The Main Category offers a top prize of RM50,000, with two runner-up prizes of RM10,000 each. The Student Category, on the other hand, offers a top prize of RM10,000, with two runners-up receiving RM2,500 each.

Submissions for the competition should be compiled in PDF format (maximum 15MB) and emailed to [email protected] with the subject line: Art @ TRX Open Call Submission - [Your Name]. Each submission must include an artist bio, portfolio, concept proposal, artist statement, and a high-level budget estimate.

Entries will be judged on originality, feasibility, artistic merit, relevance to TRX's themes, public engagement potential, and the use of sustainable materials or technology integration. A mini showcase of selected works will follow the competition.

Winning works may be permanently installed at TRX, subject to feasibility and budget. The winning work may even become a permanent landmark within the financial district. Winners will be announced at a later date.

For further details and queries, art enthusiasts can direct their questions to [email protected]. The organizer of the sculpture competition is the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) City Sdn Bhd.

This competition seeks designs that reflect the diverse flows of people, ideas, and cultures in the capital. The winning works could contribute to the rich cultural landscape of Kuala Lumpur, making this an exciting opportunity for artists and designers to showcase their creativity and make a lasting impact on the city's skyline.
